Single direction thrust ball bearings are able to accommodate axial thrust loads in one direction. They are not able to tolerate any amount of radial load. Thrust ball bearings consist of ball, retainer and both shaft and housing washers which contain grooves for the ball.
Thrust Ball Bearing – Double Direction
Double direction thrust ball bearings can accommodate axial loads acting in both directions and can thus serve to axially locate a shaft in both directions. They must not be subjected to radial load. have two cages with balls between the central shaft.
